How to Cancel
Phone
Phone is the verified cancellation path. WOW account support is available 8:00am-8:30pm ET, seven days a week.
Call 1-866-496-9669 and ask to disconnect service. Have your account number and service address ready. Before you agree to a disconnect date, ask the rep to confirm whether the account is on a Minimum Term Plan. If it is, ask how many months remain and what the ETF would be on your disconnect date.
Write down the disconnect date, equipment return due date, final bill timing, and confirmation number. End the call only when you have all four.
Chat / Account Support
WOW offers chat and account support for general questions. Use chat for return instructions, return status, billing follow-up, or written follow-up after the cancellation call. The verified cancellation path is phone, so treat the phone confirmation number as the cancellation record.
Canceling WOW TV Only
If you’re dropping legacy WOW cable TV or WOW! tv+ and keeping WOW internet, call 800-781-6588. Tell the rep you are discontinuing the TV portion of the account as part of the YouTube TV transition and keeping internet active.
What It Costs
Early Termination Fee
| Situation | ETF |
|---|---|
| Standard current no-contract internet plan | $0 |
| 12-month Minimum Term Plan | Up to $165, decreasing monthly |
| 24-month Minimum Term Plan | Up to $345, decreasing monthly |
| Eligible first 30 days of new service | No ETF / possible 30-day guarantee |
If the rep doesn’t volunteer the plan type, ask. A no-contract plan and a Minimum Term Plan can bill very differently at cancellation.
Billing
WOW’s terms bill on a prorated basis for part-month service and equipment use. That means your final bill can include charges for the days between your last full billing cycle and the actual disconnect date, plus any equipment use after that point. Confirm the final service date during the call, and ask when the final bill will post so you know when to check it.
YouTube TV Billing
If YouTube TV is billed through WOW, the terms say it’s prepaid monthly and partial billing periods are not refunded. A mid-cycle switch or cancel will not produce a prorated refund from WOW for unused days.
Equipment Return
What You Return
Return only the equipment listed in the return email. Common items are the modem, router or eero devices, TV boxes, remotes, power cords, and HDMI cables, but the email is the source of truth. Don’t send back hardware that wasn’t requested, and don’t keep items that were.
How to Return It
The return email tells you which route to use. One option is a prepaid-label QR code you take to a FedEx or Walgreens location. The other is a local secure drop box. WOW says public offices are closed, but secure drop boxes may still be available in some areas.
Save the drop-off receipt or tracking number. If an equipment charge appears later, the receipt is your proof that WOW received the gear or that you handed it to the assigned carrier.
Deadline
Use the date in the return email. If the email is missing or unclear, use the stricter legal deadline: 10 business days after disconnection or after you stop using the equipment, whichever is earlier.
Unreturned Equipment Fees
WOW’s terms allow repair or replacement-value charges for equipment that is damaged or not returned. No fixed public fee schedule is published, so the charge depends on the device and WOW’s replacement cost. Return everything on time and keep tracking until the final bill is clean.
After You Cancel
- Save the confirmation number from the disconnect call
- Watch for the email confirmation of the disconnect date
- Keep the return receipt or tracking until the final bill is fully resolved
- Check the final bill for prorated service charges, any ETF, and any equipment charges
WOW says equipment-return processing can take 5-7 business days after receipt and up to two weeks to reflect on the account. A charge that appears right after cancellation may clear once the return is processed. If it doesn’t, call with your receipt or tracking number.
Common Problems
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Rep says you owe an ETF | Ask whether the account is on a Minimum Term Plan. If yes, ask for the term length, months remaining, and the ETF calculation before approving the disconnect. |
| Return email does not arrive | Call or chat WOW at 1-866-496-9669 or use the Equipment Return Hub. Do not guess what to send back. |
| Unsure where to return equipment | Follow the return email. Use FedEx or Walgreens if the email assigned a prepaid QR label. Use a secure drop box only if WOW assigned that route. |
| Equipment charge after return | Call with your receipt or tracking. WOW says processing can take 5-7 business days after receipt and up to two weeks to reflect on the account. |
| Canceling TV but keeping internet | Call 800-781-6588 and specify that you are discontinuing WOW cable TV or WOW! tv+ while keeping internet active. |
| YouTube TV refund dispute | If the charge is for YouTube TV billed through WOW, the verified term is prepaid monthly with no refund for partial billing periods. |
| Rep cannot confirm final bill | Do not end the call without the disconnect date, ETF status, equipment due date, and confirmation number. |
