How to Cancel
Call 800-921-8101. Frontier’s account-change help page routes service cancellation to that phone number, so treat phone as the verified cancellation path.
Have your account number and current bill ready. Before you approve the disconnect, ask the rep for:
- The scheduled disconnect date
- A final bill estimate
- Whether an early termination fee applies
- Whether the $50 equipment restocking fee applies
- The equipment return deadline
- Email confirmation of the disconnect order
Repeat the date, fees, and return deadline back to the rep before the call ends. The confirmation email matters because it should list the equipment Frontier expects you to return.
Online and App
Use the MyFrontier app or online account to check billing details, order status, and return information. Frontier also offers chat for account help. The official account-change page still says service cancellation requires calling 800-921-8101, so do not rely on the app alone to close the account.
What It Costs
Early Termination Fee
Frontier may charge an early termination fee if you cancel before the end of a special promotional offer, promotional period, contract, or term agreement. The exact amount depends on your account.
Check the Monthly Charges section of your current bill before calling. Frontier says that section shows the promotional discount and expiration date. If the rep says an ETF applies, ask them to itemize it and tie it to the specific promotion or term on your bill.
Billing and Proration
Frontier says final bills may include full-month charges, prorated credits, and applicable fees depending on the service.
For residential internet, the important rule is the billing cycle. Frontier lists residential internet service and Frontier-provided equipment as billed in full through the end of the billing cycle without partial credits. If you can choose the disconnect date, aim near the end of the cycle so you are not paying for weeks of unused service.
Equipment Fees
Frontier’s published offer language says a $50 equipment restocking fee per household applies when internet service is disconnected. This is separate from any early termination fee.
If required equipment is not returned within 30 days, Frontier can charge an unreturned equipment fee. Frontier’s help content says that fee can be up to $500 for each unreturned device, while some plan-specific offer language lists lower per-device figures and a higher figure for 5 Gig equipment. Treat the risk as device- and plan-dependent, then avoid it by returning every listed item on time.
| Charge | When It Can Happen | What to Check |
|---|---|---|
| Early termination fee | Canceling during a promo, contract, or term agreement | Monthly Charges section of your bill |
| $50 restocking fee | Internet service disconnected | Final bill estimate from the rep |
| Unreturned equipment fee | Required gear not received within 30 days | UPS receipt and tracking |
| Full-cycle internet charge | Disconnect before the billing cycle ends | Scheduled disconnect date |
Equipment Return
Return the equipment Frontier asks for within 30 days of your disconnect date. Include power cords for required devices.
Use the equipment list in your Disconnect Service Order Confirmation email. Frontier’s return page says some internet router models need to come back after service changes, while some TV and video equipment may not need to be returned. Follow Frontier’s return list rather than guessing.
QR Code Return
Frontier sends a QR code by email or text. Bring the code and the listed equipment to any The UPS Store. UPS packs and ships it at no cost, and you receive a receipt with a tracking number.
Keep that receipt until the final bill is settled and any refund is complete. If an equipment charge appears after an on-time return, the UPS tracking number is the proof you need.
Return Mailer
If you declined QR code return, Frontier mails a return kit in 5-7 business days. The kit includes prepaid shipping materials and instructions. Drop the package at a location that accepts UPS packages and save the tracking number from the return label.
After You Cancel
Frontier says service remains active until your scheduled disconnect date, and disconnection can happen as early as 12:01 AM on that date. If you need internet for work, streaming, security devices, or a new-provider install, plan around the previous day as your last reliable service day.
Your final bill arrives on the regular billing date and may include:
- Regular charges through the end of the billing cycle
- Early termination fee, if applicable
- $50 equipment restocking fee
- Unreturned equipment fees, if any required equipment is late or missing
- Prorated credits or refunds for eligible services
If Auto Pay was active when you disconnected, Frontier says final charges will be paid through the saved Auto Pay method. Monitor the payment method and the regular bill date until the account closes cleanly.
Refunds can take time. Frontier says refunds are processed after the final bill is paid and equipment returns or adjustments are complete. Processing can take up to three billing cycles, and the refund should arrive 15-20 business days after processing.
Frontier lists these as valid billing dispute categories:
- Charges for service after the disconnect date
- Equipment return fees when equipment was returned on time
- Early termination fees applied in error
- Missing credits that were promised or expected
Have the disconnect confirmation, final bill, and UPS receipt ready before opening a dispute.
Common Problems
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Can’t cancel from the app | Use the app for account details, then call 800-921-8101. Frontier’s account-change page routes service cancellation to phone support. |
| Final month feels too high | Check the disconnect date against the billing cycle. Frontier says residential internet and Frontier-provided equipment can be billed through the end of the cycle without partial credit. |
| Early termination fee appears | Open the bill’s Monthly Charges section and look for the promotional discount and expiration date. Ask Frontier to itemize the ETF before approving the disconnect. |
| QR code never arrived | Check email, texts, and the MyFrontier app return order details. If you declined QR code return, wait for the 5-7 business day return kit and save the tracking number. |
| Equipment charge after return | Use the UPS receipt and tracking number. Frontier lists returned-on-time equipment fees as a valid billing dispute. |
| Unsure what equipment to return | Use the return list in the Disconnect Service Order Confirmation email. Return listed internet equipment and power cords; recycle equipment Frontier says it does not need back. |
| Auto Pay pulls the final bill | Frontier says saved Auto Pay can pay final charges after disconnect, so monitor the regular bill date and payment method until the account closes cleanly. |
