Quick Summary

  • Call 1-800-427-8686 to cancel - available 24/7
  • No early termination fee - Astound is month-to-month, no contracts
  • Return equipment within 15 days or face $50-$200+ per device
  • Astound doesn’t prorate. You pay for the full month even if you cancel mid-cycle
  • Service areas: Boston, NYC, Chicago, LA, DC, Philadelphia metros

How to Cancel

Call 1-800-427-8686. Navigate the automated menu to reach a representative. Verify your identity, tell them you want to cancel, and get a confirmation number plus the rep’s name.

Cancellation is effective at the end of your current billing cycle.

Tip: Have your account number, billing address, and preferred cancellation date ready. Time your cancellation near the end of your billing cycle - Astound charges for the full month regardless, so canceling right after a new cycle starts means you’re paying for a month you won’t use. If you’re not fully committed, ask about downgrades or switching to a cheaper speed tier first.

Live Chat

Go to astound.com/contact-us, choose live chat, and type “Cancel Service.” Available during business hours. Same process as phone but in text.

In-Person

Visit a local Astound office. Call first to confirm the location accepts cancellations. Bring a photo ID, a recent bill, and your equipment if you want to return it on the same trip.

What It Costs

Nothing. Astound runs month-to-month with no contracts and no early termination fees.

The only cost is timing. Astound doesn’t prorate, so you pay the full month no matter when you cancel. Exception: if you cancel within 30 days of activation, you may qualify for a full refund.

Important: Cancel near the end of your billing cycle. If you cancel the day after a new cycle starts, you’re paying for a full month of service you won’t use. There’s no partial refund.

Equipment Return

What You Return

  • Cable modems (DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1)
  • WiFi routers and modem combos
  • TiVo DVR boxes
  • HD/digital converter boxes
  • Enhanced Whole Home WiFi equipment
  • All cables, adapters, and remotes

How to Return It

Local office - call first to confirm returns are accepted at that location. Bring a photo ID. Get a receipt.

FedEx - request a prepaid shipping label when you cancel. Package securely and keep tracking info.

Technician pickup - available for a fee. Schedule through customer service.

Deadline

15 days from disconnection.

Unreturned Equipment Fees

$50-$200+ per device depending on the equipment type. Monthly rental fees ($8-$10/month) also continue until equipment is returned.

Important: The 15-day clock starts at disconnection, and monthly rental fees keep accruing until equipment is returned. Drop off at a local office and get a receipt. Don’t wait.

After You Cancel

Final bill includes prorated service charges through cancellation, outstanding equipment rental fees, applicable taxes, and any overpayment credits. Arrives within 1-2 billing cycles.

Confirmation is sent in writing within 1-2 weeks. Call back if you don’t receive it.

Reactivation is available. After 60+ days, you’re considered a new customer and may qualify for promotional offers.
